Exit Essay Requirements

Since January 1st, 2026 the Israel Population & Immigration Authority now requires all temporary visitors to Israel to complete a mandatory exit essay upon leaving the country. At Israel Exit, we offer a range of support services to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience in the entire exit essay process.

The new requirement is for a simple essay of at least 500 words containing the following:

A general summary of the things you did while in Israel
Three (3) "Highlights" of your trip (Things you enjoyed)
Three (3) "Low-lights" of your trip (things you did not enjoy)

An additional section, before or after your essay, must include the following information:

Your full name (as it appears on your passport)
Your Passport number and country of issuance
Duration of your stay in Israel (in days)

One Essay For Your Whole Family

The 500-word requirement applies to each person individually submitting an exit essay. Multiple people travelling together can optionally submit a single 1,000-word essay (Up to a maximum of five people on a single 1,000-word essay)

Use of AI or hiring any third-party to generate an Israel Exit Essay is prohibited, as is plagiarism from any source without credit.

The Israel Population & Immigration Authority will have staff on hand to review essays completed in Hebrew, English, or Russian at the airport, however you may complete your Israel Exit Essay in the language of your choice and it will be translated for review. Use of slang, idioms, and colloquialisms is discouraged to ensure your Exit Essay is fully understood by staff
